Magnetic Flux Leakage

For Large Areas

CANEIL conducts tank bottom inspections through the use of a Silverwing Floor Scanner, which allows for quick, accurate inspections of tank floors, in conjunction with ultrasonic testing work-up to verify results. Magnetic Flux Leakage is a commonly used inspection method when looking for localized areas of pitting or wall loss.

Where is it used?

A high throughput method of inspection, MFL is commonly used in smart-pigs or for the inspection of tank bottoms. MFL can be used in other areas than tank floors and pipelines. The external inspection of large areas in an attempt to identify localized areas of corrosion can be conducted through the use of hand MFL scanners in order to quickly cover large areas and to identify areas of concern.
